Sr. Project Manager
Department: Project Management
Reports To: General Manager
Position Purpose
The Sr. Project Manager will oversee all elements and phases of large custom automation projects while supporting Tech-Con Automation's customers. This will include but not limited to: leading project kick-off meetings, project planning, scope and schedule adherence, project team management, identifying manpower resources, change orders, monitoring project purchases, cost tracking and identifying additional opportunities throughout each project. The Sr. Project Manager is supported throughout each project with our highly skilled electrical, mechanical and system integrators. This role ensures that our team is focused on customer satisfaction, quality and integrity of our equipment and optimizing project margin. This position requires travel within Canada and USA.
Position Responsibilities
Position functions will include:
- Responsible for the overall contract execution.
- Lead project kick-off meetings and prepare project team to ensure all objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities.
- Responsible for leading, generating and managing project schedules, deliverables and budgets.
- Issue schedules for all projects within one (1) week of project acceptance and provide timely updates and changes
- Generate and track all Project Engineering change orders
- Conduct regular project meetings with customers and project team throughout each contract
- Monitoring and reporting costs of project completion
- Responsible for machine acceptance and sign-off, along with customer milestone invoicing
- Coordinating and assisting in solving technical problems throughout project process
- Complete closed order analysis after final acceptance by the customer, and generate historical data i.e.) unforeseen obstacles, corrective actions, safety issues, liabilities etc.
- Review system training course for customers on the application, operation, adjustment and proper maintenance of system provided.
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with customers and sales representatives
- Pursue all opportunities to generate revenue for Tech-Con Automation Inc.

- Knowledge of industry standards
- Strong understanding of automated systems
- Able to do qualitative/quantitative analysis with automated systems
- Required to sit for long periods at a time

- Required to occasionally stand, lift, or bend
Education Experience
Post graduate degree in or certificate in Electrical or Mechanical engineering combined with Five (5) plus year’s proven experience managing large material handling automation projects.
Interpersonal
- Strong PC aptitude including MS-Project, AutoCAD and MS-Office
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have strong analytical skills
